What Would You Say To Your Younger Self?

The other week I saw the lovely Bethany Worrall had this post and I knew I was going to love it as soon as I saw the title. It's something I often think about, I could definitely have saved a lot of time and effort if my future self could have lended some advice! I'd love to do another post like this if I'm still blogging in 5+ years, as I feel I've still got a long way to go to discover myself.

(A very ill) baby Hannah, my hair still goes into ringlets!

Don't Waste Your Time On Certain People

Obviously I'm not going to name anyone, but there are quite a few people I wasted my time on who just weren't worth it. Be it boys, "besties", or just people I was far too polite to, I definitely could have channelled that energy into better things!

Don't Let Teachers Ruin Subjects For You

Unfortunately, I have to say I didn't have the greatest teachers in school, which demotivated me in some of my subjects, especially in 3rd and 4th year. (Sorry, I know the Scottish school system is probably confusing to a lot of you, that's age 15 & 16.) I loved English and Art especially, but I just lost interest. I'm happy that I've gotten back in to reading and started blogging, so I think I'll make an effort to try and start sketching and painting again!

Stick In At Highers

I originally didn't want to stay for Highers, but my mum told me to, saying I would regret it if I didn't. I'm so grateful that she did, but I really wish I'd made an effort. I wasted the whole year not caring and not studying, which ended in awful grades. I took both Philosophy and Psychology which are amazingly interesting, so I wish I had paid more attention! STICK IN SCHOOL KIDS.

You Have Absolutely No Reason To Have So Little Confidence

When I was younger, I was really harsh on myself and thought I wasn't good at anything. I didn't like going outside of my comfort zone and hardly stood up for myself. Now I'm a much stronger person and I'm working my butt off to get myself where I need to be. If younger me could see me now, she'd be so proud and probably a little bit shocked. I'm still a cry baby so we'd have a wee cuddle and cry together.

Some Other Things I'd Tell Myself...

I kept my hair like this for about 5 months. Really Han?!

1. Bleaching your hair from bright red is a ridiculous idea. Leaving it for months before dying it again is an even worse idea. How you didn't get sacked from your hairdressing job I don't know!
2. Don't draw on your eyebrows. Seriously, just bite the bullet and tint them, it will look SO much better.
3. Who cares about foundation, your skin is fine, enjoy having no spots whilst you can!
4. You look pretty damn ridiculous when you wear Rimmel Fake Tan. Just no.

There are so many more things I'd tell myself, but these are the main ones I wanted to share. I'd say messing about with my Highers is my biggest regret and I feel like such an idiot for letting it happen.

If any of you decide to do this post, please leave me a comment/tweet and let me know, I'm nosey and would love to read them! Learn more about the Legal & General initiative that sparked this here.
