My New Piercing

A bit of a different post today, but it's something I haven't seen often on blogs so I figured it might interest a few people!

I decided a couple of weeks ago I wanted a nose hoop - completely out of the blue! I've always thought they looked cute on other people, but it's not until the past few months I've had a craving for a new piercing.

I got my ears pierced when I was 12, but I haven't worn earrings in years as any metal I tried irritated my ears, leaving them red and sore. On my 16th birthday I got my lip pierced, which I had for about 2 years before I got fed up of constantly taking it out for work and putting it back in 4 hours later. Although I miss having a lip ring, I've never wanted to get it again.

The process..
I went to the same person who did my lip ring, as he's probably the most well known piercer in my city and I trust him not to mess it up. I didn't have to book in or anything (I'm not sure what it's like anywhere else, I'm presuming that's the norm?) After filling out a short form with health questions and a disclaimer (on an iPad, how fancy!) I had a bit of banter and discussion with the piercer and receptionist before going through to a rather spacious piercing room.

I was explained what to expect, shown the hoop that would be used and got my nose cleaned and sterilised. The piercer was lovely and had great banter, making light hearted jokes which put me at ease. He warned me that my eyes would water and I might bleed as I'm a vegetarian and have thinner blood, got my nose marked and off we went. He even wiped away the tears from my watering eyes after, what a decent bloke!

The best way I can think to describe the pain is like getting an injection with a hot needle. I was told to take a deep breathe as it was done and my eyes immediately started watering. The pain went away almost immediately until I got the piercing put in. I don't know about anyone else but it always seems just as sore?! For the most part the experience was just uncomfortable, as the nose isn't exactly as flimsy as ear or a lip. It felt sort of like I was about to get a massive booger pulled from my nose, yuck!

The aftermath..
I've had the piercing for two weeks now and have been cleaning it with salt water every morning and night. Its been pretty annoying as I never realised how often I touch my nose! The worst is showering, as I instinctively go to wipe water off my nose. On the third day it bled quite a bit, I must of knocked it in my sleep. After that it was tender for a few days and got a bit crusty. I did get a little bit of what I think was pus, but it was only for one day and after I cleaned it, it never came back. I slowly started to get used to it and now I only touch it when cleaning it and if I need to adjust the hoop.

Sorry if this is a post you haven't enjoyed, but as I said it's something I haven't seen often! If you have an questions feel free to ask :)
