July Favourites

July Favourites
MAC Lipstick in Angel//Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer//Sleek Blush by Three in Californ.I.A

A little late on in the month, but here are my favourites for July! I wanted to add more, but there aren't really any other products that have jumped out at me.

First up is MAC's lipstick in Angel. Its a pinky nude colour that gives the lips a lovely shine. MAC lipsticks are the best lipsticks I've tried, as they last a good few hours without leaving those attractive lip line rims!

The second item in my favourites for this month is the Sleek Blush by Three in Californ.I.A. I've been wearing either OC or Newport Peach every day for the past month and haven't even looked at any other blushers. I use a small fibre brush to dab the colour on my cheeks and buff out.

The last item in my monthly favourites is one most beauty enthusiasts will already be familiar with, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. It's great for dark circles as it covers them without looking heavy or clogging up the skin! For under a fiver, it's a lot better than some of the higher end concealers that I've tried and is easy on the pocket!

So, there are my favourites for July! Not the most interesting, I know, but sometimes it's good to stick to products you know work for you.

What's On My iPhone

Banana Beauty IPhone Screenshot

As much as I try to deny it, I am one of those girls who simply cannot live without their phone. I don't think I can even last 20 minutes without looking at my phone! It's a little weird because I'm not that active on social networks - although I do adore a cheeky Facebook stalk now and then - but I still unlock my phone and click about every few minutes. So, lets see a few of the apps I'm always opening!

I only downloaded Spotify last month, but i haven't listened to my music app since. It's so much handier to just pick whatever album/playlist I feel like listening to than constantly deleting and downloading songs to my phone.

I basically use Instagram to stalk  brands and make up artists to get ideas for looks! I have so many screen shots of eyes or lips that I want to try out, as well as a list of products I've seen on Instagram that I want to buy. Oh, of course I love a wee animal pic too!

I don't think I need to say much about Bloglovin's app on, do I? It makes it easy to keep up with new posts on the go!

I really like Buffer for scheduling tweets as its so simple. I've tried using hootsuite so that I can schedule unlimited tweets, but I just don't like it the same.

I don't have many games on my phone as I tend to be an old school computer gamer, but when Scott told me there was a game that closely follows the idea of Pokemon, I couldn't resist getting it! I've only just started playing but I'm already hooked!

Vouchercloud/O2 Priority/Vouchercodes

Working in retail has made me realise how often shops have discounts through affiliates which can save you up to half the original price. I usually forget about the offers until I go for dinner, so I'm trying to make more of an effort to make the most of offers!

What are your favourite apps for your phone or tablet? Which ones couldn't you live without?

A Ginger In Laurencekirk: Castleton Farm Shop and Café

I recently had a day off at the weekend and spent it with my mum and Scott. We visited Castleton Farm Shop and Café, which is surrounded by fields of strawberries and raspberries. I was gutted as there were a few days in July where, for £15, you could spend the morning picking strawberries, go for lunch in the cafe before learning how to make jam in the afternoon.

The cafe is lovely and spacious, with massive windows looking out onto the fields and an outdoor seating/children's play area. There are plenty of small decorations and photo frames scattered about to give a homely touch.

We ordered milkshakes which were made from the strawberries from the field and I chose to order macaroni and cheese with a slice of bread. The macaroni came brimming in a ceramic dish, smothered in cheese and with a massive chunk of bread to soak up the sauce. It was clearly home made and tasted delicious, although the portion was far more than I could eat!

After our meal, we were too full for pudding, so we had a wonder around the shop, which was full of local treats and interesting alcohol. We bought strawberries and raspberries, which were obviously fresh from the fields and tasted delicious. They lasted a good week and a half before starting to get squishy.

Although it's a bit out of the way I would definitely recommend anyone passing to give Castleton a try! The menu is a little limited for vegetarians, but the fresh food more than makes up for that. Have any of my local readers been to Castleton? Or have you ever been strawberry picking? I really would like to try it some time soon!

Make Up Brush Wish List

I thought I had a adequate supply of make up brushes, but since training and working on a few shows, I realised there are still quite a few I'm lacking. I'm not a fan of using my "kit brushes" for my own everyday use - I know, I'm weird - so there are a few of my own that I want to replace with better quality brushes. I started this list with 4 brushes and it kind of spiralled out of control and now there are 11, coming to a total of £85, not including shipping...

Starting off with the obvious, there are quite a few MAC brushes I'm looking to purchase. Whenever I'm in store I find myself drifting over and touching all the brushes, thinking about how soft they are. Again, I'm weird, I know! I currently only own one MAC brush, the 217,  which is a complete game changer for blending eyeshadow. There are a few more eyeshadow from MAC that I want to add to my collection, the first being the 213 fluff brush. It's  the perfect size for adding colour to the crease of the eye and lives up to it's name in the fluff department. The 219 Pencil Brush is just what I need for blending along the lash line and smudging out liner. The last brush I want from MAC is the 168 Angled Contour Brush, mainly because of how soft it is!

The next website I've been looking at for brushes is Crown Brushes. The main brush I want is the Jumbo Kabuki Fan. It's massive and fluffy, perfect for a soft and quick contour. The Crescent Shadow brush is similar to the MAC 213 Fluff brush, so it will be interesting to see how they compare! I love a fibre brush and the Duo Fibre Buffer has tightly compact bristles for buffing in foundation.

The last website I looked at for brushes is Coastal Scents. I have heard of their brushes before but I never checked them out until I had the Classic Blush recommended to me on The Hunt. I've stupidly taken pictures of the Natural Brushes for my wish list, but I'd probably go for the synthetic versions to be more cruelty free. I also liked the look of the Shadow Dome as it would be perfect for blending eyeshadow into the under eye without causing discomfort or too much colour spread. The Classic Blender Crease will be used to lightly blend out shadow at the end of the application process to soften any harsh edges without adding more colour. The last brush on my wish list is the Pro Blending Fluff, which is a dupe of my beloved MAC 217. I'm interested to see how it compares and how the quality differs between the two!

A bit of a long post today, but hopefully you enjoyed it and got to see a few different brush options for your make up! Do you have a favourite brand, or a game changing brush?

Mini Haul: Just For 5 Pounds

I usually browse discount websites without seeing anything I like, but when I heard about justfor5pounds I was shocked by how many items caught my eye! I saw items from shops that I'd previously thought of buying but never gotten round to, as well as plenty of new items to lust after.

After a quick google with plenty of good reviews, I decided to purchase three items: two pairs of leggings and a dress.

I'm loving patterned leggings and trousers at the moment, but never have the confidence to wear them as I feel like they'll make me look chunky. After buying white tartan leggings I decided it was safe to buy two more pairs. The first pair are actually jeggings, which are white with an aztec pattern. Since being washed twice they've already started to visibly fade, but for £5 i'm really not too fussed!

The other pair are a dark blue tartan which I havent worn yet, but are perfect for a casual outfit. They're a little long for my, covering my belly button, but with a long or loose top no one will even be able to tell!

It was love at first sight with this dress - I love anything cute and quirky! My favourite monster is unfortunatly on the back of the dress, but I've had so many compliments on this dress that I think I can let it slide ;)

Have you ever tried Just For 5 Pounds? Or any other discount websites?
