March Favourites

March Favourites

I love months where I have quite a new few things to play with, but my favourites end up being things I've had for a while. March has been another busy month for me, with lots of exciting things going on.

BooTea

My first favourite for the month is green tea. I used to be quite a big green drinker, but fell out of the habit last year. I was attending a wedding in the middle of March and the dress I had planned was just a little too tight, so I went on a mission to lose weight in time for the wedding. My friend told me she was going to try out BooTea and as it was BOGOHP in Holland and Barrett I decided it was worth a go. Although it didn't make much of a difference except helping with bloating, it did really encourage me to be super healthy and I started drinking a lot more green tea. My favourite flavours are salted caramel and good ol' mint tea (which does help with bloating as well.) Since I've started drinking it again I find myself craving tea instead of a snack, which is always a good thing!

My second favourite for the month is one of my brushes from the £7 set (here). It's a lot like the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush as it's really dense and packs on product, making it perfect for blending in foundation. It's a little hard to clean as it is so dense and I wash it every other day, so I'm starting to get a little bit of shedding, making me think I might need to replace it soon!

A bit of an unusual favourite is The Body Shop Smooth and Renew Loofah Pads. As well as being a great exfoliator, I had the genius idea of using one to scrub my make up brushes. I've seen a lot about make up cleaning mits and mats that cost a good £20 and one day when I was cleaning my brushes I figured the Loofah pad would probably have the same effect! I was right, a gentle swirl easily cleaned the dark brown eyeshadow from my blending brush, leaving the tips as good as new. Obviously they're quite small so it's difficult to clean powder brushes, but even foundation brushes can be scrubbed. Pretty proud of myself for that gem!

MUA Luxe Lacquers Swatches

The last item in my favourites for the month cost me a mere £3. I've had my eye on Lime Crimes Cashmere, Riot and Pansy Velvetines to complete my collection, but after seeing a few dodgy looking, mismatching swatches and reading all about the controversy of Doe Deere, I decided I no longer want to support the company. As much as I love the products and will continue to use my current ones up, I don't see me purchasing any more from Lime Crime! I decided to look for alternatives and on a trip to Superdrug to look at the MUA Stall (Aberdeen Trinity Centre Superdrug, your MUA stand is AWFUL! Please at least try to keep it tidy and clean?) I remembered that I had one of the Luxe Lip Lacquers and decided to try Tranquillity and Halcyon. Funnily enough, Superdrug didn't have any on the stand except for the testers, so I ended up buying from the MUA website. They lip Lacquers are definitely on par with Lime Crime Velvetines and only cost £3! They are a bit drying so I tend to dab lip balm on top, but they're definitely worth trying. I put up a little Instagram of me trying to get the swatches off my arm so you can see how strong they are!

What are your favourites for March? Anything you would like to recommend?

  1. I've been drinking a lot of teas lately too. I did the Bootea detox and didn't notice a huge difference but it's definitely got me into better habits. Twining's green teas are lovely! Salted caramel and cherry bakewell are my favourites. The MUA Lip Lacquers look lovely too, especially Tranquility.

    1. I had such high hopes for Bootea even though I knew in the back of my mind it wouldn't work so I'm so gutted haha. They're great for how cheap they are!

  3. Twinings in Italy is sooo hard to find. They may keep one or two flavours but that's it. I'd really like to try that salted caramel one now :/
