Easy Protein Cookie Recipe


I'm never really sure if protein powder really helps when working out, but as I'm a vegetarian I figure it can't be an awful idea to have pre/post workout! I bought protein bars to have before working out once or twice, before deciding to make my own. A lot of the time I'm hungry before I work out - either from just being up or just finishing a shift - but obviously I don't want to be eating a full meal beforehand. So I decided to try and make my own protein bars to have a little bit before I exercise, to line my stomach and get rid of those hunger pains, as well as possibly giving myself a boost. The bars I made turned out pretty damn awful, so I decided to try cookies instead. I followed a recipe the first time, before deciding to make my own version as they didn't taste quite right. It's really simple to make and they taste good, so here is the recipe!

You will need:

2 scoops of protein powder (right now I have strawberry, but I think vanilla will be better in the future!)
1 egg
1/4 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of Peanut Butter
2 tablespoons  of Nutella
a medium bowl
an oven tray with greaseproof paper

Preheat your oven to 180°. Mix all of the ingredients in the medium bowl with a spoon until the consistency becomes like dough. Scoop out a small amount of the mixture and roll into a ball in your palms. Place on the greaseproof paper and flatten the ball into a cookie shape. I usually manage to make about 6-8 medium sized cookies. Then all that's left to do is to put the cookies into the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until the cookies are starting to turn golden. Leave them out to cool and harden and voila!

Obviously you can switch up the flavouring for these, but it's just a nice, no fuss recipe! Have you ever made protein cookies or bars? How did they turn out?
